Our clothes go on holiday......... Without us!!!
22.05.2013 - 26.05.2013 23 °C
After a brief stopover in Hong Kong we landed in Rome ready to catch our connection to Valletta Malta. Immediately you could tell we were in Rome by the way the women and men were dressed and the number of priests and nuns around.
After a quick cafe latte we caught our flight and landed in Valetta an hour later.
We made our way to baggage collection and watched everybody else pick theirs up.................ours decided it liked Rome too much and stayed over for an extended stay.
Our accommodation host was very helpful and after many calls over the following 48hrs our bags joined us in Valletta.
Our accommodation in Valetta is a 400y.o building that's been converted into 4 apartments. We are on the ground floor and look over a beautiful old courtyard that used to be the old coach arrival yard. The unit is 1 block away from the main square so cafe's and attractions are only meters away.
Valetta is the Capital of malta and oozes old world charm.
It's not quite tourist season yet so we have been able to enjoy everything just like being one of the locals.
While waiting for Allan and Gloria to sail across from Tunisia we have spent our time wandering the streets and soaking up the local atmosphere and cuisine.
After working out the local bus network we made our way across to Gzisa, a port area across from Valetta. We picked up some supplies Allan needed for the boat and then we travelled across to Mdina the old capital of Malta.
Mdina is an old walled town that sits high up in the country side and enjoys magnificent views over the Island and Mediterranean.
The following day 25/05 A&G arrived. We met them for lunch at the marina and spent the remainder of the day discussing our trip and soaking up the sights.
Tomorrow we leave our apartment and make our way to the marina where we will board " nick of time" for the next two weeks.
